The Doctor's Verdict

My doctor appointment went quite well this morning. The best news of all was that between December 3 and this morning, I've apparently lost another 8 pounds, which brings me down to 285. That makes for a loss of 26 pounds since November 2. Not bad at all. I also suspect that I should've lost more, but that with the dance exercises, I'm building muscle mass again. After all, it seems to me that I had to have lost more than eight pounds of fat if my belts having trouble holding my pants up again. I mean, I've dropped it down another notch and now must either buy a new belt or put a hole in this one!

Dr. Gustafson was a bit amused when I told him I was doing dance exercises. He wanted to know what kind of place I had managed to find that teaches such things. Of course, I also got the impression he was a bit shocked that I went with something like that rather than "military calisthenics" or something. Sitting here writing this entry, I find myself wondering if he realizes just how intense dance can be. Who knows? Maybe he's just not used to male patients picking such a "girlish" form of exercise.

The only down side to my entire appointment was that my blood pressure was still too high. When the nurse took it this morning, it was 142/92. Dr. Gustafson took it again when he cam into the examination room, but I didn't catch what he said it was. He just said it was too high. So he's put me on a second medication for my blood pressure. And he's recommended that I start taking it regularly (thank goodness my mother has a cuff and stethoscope due to nursing school!) and bring him the results next time. Hopefully, it'll show some good progress.
